About the office

The Office of Faculty Academic Affairs provides leadership to the dean and department chairs on academic matters related to faculty personnel, polices, and procedures. It:

  • analyzes and advises on issues related to faculty merit, promotion, and discipline.
  • reviews proposals for appointment and promotion of academic personnel.
  • serves as liaison between the School and campus academic offices and governing bodies.

Part of the Dean’s Office, it is led by the vice dean of academic affairs, who reports to the dean.

Responsibilities include

  • Sharing potential and actual changes in academic personnel policies and procedures with the dean and department chairs and recommending courses of action.

  • Analyzing and advising on issues pertaining to faculty merits, promotion, discipline, compensation, benefits, diversity, equity, and problem resolution.

  • Reviewing proposals for academic promotion and appointments.

  • Serving as a liaison with campus-level academic affairs offices and governing bodies.
