The UCSF School of Pharmacy is led by the dean, who oversees the Dean’s Office, three departments, and a research institute. Each of these support the school’s mission and goals in research, education, and patient care. A Dean’s Leadership Group advises the dean.
Dean Kathy Giacomini, PhD, BSPharm, leads the creation and implementation of the school’s strategic agenda and ensures the school has the operational framework and resources required to succeed. She is the school’s public voice, articulating its vision, its plans for the future, and its passion for precise therapeutics — as seen in its work from basic science to health policy.
Giacomini ensures the school meets its mission, advances scholarship, and delivers continually improving academic and patient care programs. As dean, she works closely with UC San Francisco’s chancellor and other campus leaders as part of the campus leadership team to create the conditions for this diverse campus to work as “One UCSFexternal site (opens in a new window)” and, in doing so, further succeed in leading revolutions in health.
