Giacomini named to National Advisory General Medical Sciences Council

Kathy M. Giacomini, PhD, chair of the UCSF School of Pharmacy Department of Biopharmaceutical Sciences is one of five new members appointed to the National Advisory General Medical Sciences Council. The appointment came from Tommy Thompson, US Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. The council serves the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS), which is one of the US National Institutes of Health. The council reviews funding proposals to NIGMS and recommends on program development and direction. NIGMS funds research and research training in the basic biomedical sciences.
