The UCSF Schools of Pharmacy and Medicine now use helium recycling equipment, shown above, to avoid wasting the gas, which is used to cool certain types of scientific and medical imaging machines.

The School is now recycling much of the helium used in its NMR facilities.

The Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Investigator Award supports risky and innovative research projects across UCSF, UC Berkeley, and Stanford University. The application deadline for the next cohort of awardees has been extended to May 14, 2021.

Faculty members have until May 14 to apply for “risky and innovative research” funding from the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub.
