Department of Clinical Pharmacy 17th Annual Spring Research Seminar

Poster presentations of current research of School of Pharmacy Department of Clinical Pharmacy students, fellows, residents, and faculty. Faculty and students from other departments and schools are invited to attend. During the seminar, three posters will be selected for Gary Rifkind Award.

Administrative Analyst

As Financial and Administrative Analyst, I conduct detailed general ledger reconciliation of department core funds, including analysis of expenditures that may need further action such as communicating with vendors, faculty, and staff. In addition, I provide administrative support to the associate dean of finance and administration and ensure that the continuity and emergency action plans for the School are current.

Purchasing Analyst

As Purchasing Analyst, I am responsible for providing centralized materiel management and procurement services for the Dean’s Office, Office of Student and Curricular Affairs, Office of Education and Instructional Support, and Informatics Resource Laboratory. I interpret and implement policy using purchasing guidelines and work to resolve purchasing issues. I also provide analytical support to the School’s Controller by implementing and maintaining internal controls such as statistical data for audit and compliance review, space management, and equipment inventory management.

Finance and Budget Analyst

As Finance and Budget Analyst, I provide financial, budget, and business analysis support to the Dean’s Office, which includes the offices of Student and Curricular Affairs, Education and Instructional Support, and Planning and Communications. I assist in fiscal oversight of funding for the Dean’s Office for Administration and Finance, including preparation and analysis of monthly budget status reports, ledger verification of transactions, and analysis and projections of revenue and expenditures.

As Controller for the School of Pharmacy, I collaborate with other University departments and with the School’s senior managers, faculty, staff, and students to assure compliance with governing laws and policies, promote the School’s fiduciary responsibilities, and ensure effective risk management practices. I serve as the contact point for internal and external audits and other reviews, including coordination and review of the School’s responses to audit findings. In addition, I direct equipment and space management processes.

Desai named chair of the Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences

Tejal Desai, PhD, has been named the new chair of the Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences (BTS), a joint department of the UCSF Schools of Pharmacy and Medicine. Her appointment is effective August 1, 2014.

Napolitano selects Hawgood as next UCSF Chancellor

University of California President Janet Napolitano has announced that her choice for the 10th chancellor of UC San Francisco is Sam Hawgood, MBBS, the UCSF School of Medicine dean who has served as interim UCSF chancellor since April 1. The UC Board of Regents will vote on Napolitano’s selection and the terms of the appointment on July 17.

Retreat kicks off major revision of School curriculum

The UCSF School of Pharmacy, a leader in pharmacy education worldwide, jump-started a transformation of its Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) curriculum at a Schoolwide meeting on June 18, 2014 at the Presidio of San Francisco.

School leaders, staff, students step out in support of AIDS Walk San Francisco

The entire UCSF enterprise—including the School of Pharmacy—is gearing up for AIDS Walk San Francisco. This year’s walk will take place on Sunday, July 20 in Golden Gate Park.

Michael Nordberg, associate dean for finance and administration, is the leader of the 2014 School of Pharmacy Team. Nordberg encourages everyone in the School to join in—administrators, leaders, faculty, staff, and students.

Operations Analyst

In my role as operations analyst in the Office of Finance and Administration, I work on various projects and initiatives for the Dean’s Office:

Coordinate information technology support and information system asset management, coordinate space, provide operational support to Dean’s programs, curriculum transformation, managing the vice dean and associate dean of administration and finance's calendar, working on education-related initiatives, act as human resources liaison and safety officer, and work with the Office of Planning and Communications for key communications.
