Physician-focused strategy to cut drug costs failing

Attempts have failed by Health Management Organizations (HMOs) to cut drug costs by putting physicians at financial risk if their prescription costs exceed their medical group's drug budget. This was the finding of a study led by School of Pharmacy faculty member Helene Levens Lipton, PhD, which was released September 5, 2005 in Journal of Health Policy Politics and Law.
