Koda-Kimble honored with Paul F. Parker Award

Mary Anne Koda-Kimble, PharmD, dean of the UCSF School of Pharmacy is the 2007 recipient of the Paul F. Parker Medal for Distinguished Service to the Profession of Pharmacy. The award was given October 14, 2007 by the American College of Clinical Pharmacy at its annual meeting in Denver, Colorado.

Jere Goyan, former UCSF dean, dies

Jere Goyan, PhD, former dean of the UCSF School of Pharmacy and former commissioner of the United States Food and Drug Administration died on January 17, 2007 in his home in Kingwood, Texas. “Jere was a beloved colleague who had tremendous influence on pharmacy education and science.

UCSF School of Pharmacy #1 among peers

The UCSF School of Pharmacy maintains its ranking as the best doctor of pharmacy degree program in the United States, according to a 2005 survey conducted by U.S. News & World Report. Results were published in America's Best Graduate Schools, 2007 Edition.

School #1 in NIH funding, 26th year

For the 26th consecutive year, the UCSF School of Pharmacy ranks first among US pharmacy schools in contract and grant funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), according to figures for fiscal year 2005.

Using standards that measure a university's openness and diversity, as well as distinction in research, Newsweek International ranked UCSF 9th among the top 100 global universities as reported in the publication's August 13, 2006 online issue.

Medicare Part D could work if pharmacists recognized and reimbursed

Pharmacists are essential to the successful implementation of Medicare Part D, according to Helene Levens Lipton, PhD, professor of health policy in the department of clinical pharmacy, UCSF School of Pharmacy and UCSF Institute for Health Policy Studies.
