The Quantitative Biosciences Institute (QBI) at UCSF is presenting a live panel discussion in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, titled Optimizing the Treatment of Breast Cancer to Empower Patients.

Modern technology allows us to gather an immense amount of data on each patient. This information helps experts make informed decisions on which treatments to administer and empowers patients to educate themselves better. The panel discussion will portray the aim to advance patient management through personalized medicine by highlighting MammaPrint, (a genomic test used to analyze the activity of certain genes in early-stage breast cancer) its origins and one of its many success stories.

Panelists

  • Laura van ’t Veer, Molecular Biologist and Leader of the Breast Oncology Program at UCSF HDFCCC | Co-founder of Agendia – Inventor of MammaPrint
  • Angie Trang Nguyen, Breast cancer survivor and spokesperson

Moderator

  • Gina Nguyen, Director of Communications and Events, QBI UCSF
