School of Pharmacy Faculty Among 2025 Highly Cited Researchers

Three UCSF School of Pharmacy faculty members are named in Clarivate’s 2025 list of Highly Cited Researchers, recognizing their scholarly impact and influence in their fields.

To make the list, researchers have published multiple papers that ranked among the top 1 percent of cited research over the past decade. The list includes the following faculty from the School of Pharmacy: 

  • John Irwin, PhD, adjunct professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry
  • Aashish Manglik, MD, PhD, associate professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and biophysics graduate program director
  • Brian Shoichet, PhD, chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry

The faculty members are among 288 scientists from across the University of California’s 10 campuses and three national laboratories to earn a coveted spot on Clarivate’s list, which names 6,868 scientists from around the world. 

UC has the highest number of highly cited researchers among institutions worldwide. UCSF in particular ranks No. 21 worldwide.

This recognition reflects the school’s commitment to fostering groundbreaking research that addresses critical issues in health care and pharmaceutical sciences.
