PROPEL scholars to present research on Wed Aug 10
This year’s graduating scholars in the UCSF Post-baccalaureate Research Opportunity to Promote Equity in Learning (PROPEL) program will present their research projects at the 2nd Annual Summer Symposium on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, from 1pm to 6pm. The event, which will take place in Byers Auditorium in Genentech Hall (UCSF Mission Bay Campus), caps two years spent conducting research and training for careers in the scholars’ fields of interest.
The presenting scholars are Christian Lagares-Linares, Naa Ashitey, Anthony Rodriguez, Celeste Garza, Max Bjorni, Nabeela Ariqat, Olive Tambou Nzoutchoum, Peter Martin, and Sarah Soliman. The symposium also includes a breakout session for faculty and scholar networking and a poster session.
PROPEL is a 1- to 2-year paid post-baccalaureate program that aims to promote equity in the research sciences for current full-time UCSF lab technicians and prepare them for graduate programs in biomedicine. PROPEL was founded by UCSF faculty members, including Ryan Hernandez, PhD, faculty member in the Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences, to foster the academic careers of underrepresented minorities.
