  • PC 122 Cardiovascular and Autonomic Agents: This course provides a systematic survey of chemical features of synthetic drugs acting on the autonomic and cardiovascular systems, and emphasizes correlations between chemical structure and biological activity.
    Lecture: 2 hours. 2 units
Course Director: Dr. C.C. Wang, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry
  • PCOL 122 Autonomic and Cardiovascular Pharmacology: Course covers the pharmacology of autonomic and cardiovascular drugs. Topics include foundations of receptor pharmacology, the autonomic nervous system, drugs acting at cholinergic and adrenergic receptors, antithrombotics, diuretics, drugs used to treat hypertension, antiarrythmics, drugs used to treat congestive heart failure, and antianginal drugs. Case conferences (cholinergic and adrenergic drugs, diuretics and antithrombotics, hypertension, antiarrhythmics, and congestive heart failure and angina) are used to illustrate pharmacological principles of drug selection in actual practice.
    Lecture: 3 hours. 3 units
Course Director: Dr. Jeff B. Lansman, Department of Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology
  • BPS 122 Pharmacokinetics: A continuation of BPS 121 in which student pharmacists will learn the sources of variability in the body's handling of drugs and how these influence kinetics and dosing of drugs.
Lecture: 2 hours. Conference 2 hours. 3 units
Course Director: Dr. Betty-ann Hoener, Department of Biopharmaceutical Sciences
  • CP 123 Health Policy for Pharmacists: Goals of this course include: understanding the major shifts occurring in today's complex, competitive and ever-changing health care system, thinking critically about health policy issues, analyzing the opportunities and challenges that the changing health care system will have for patients, pharmacists and society, understanding the policy making process and current prescription drug policies so as to modify and influence policies that do not promote safe, effective and accessible drug therapy and provision of pharmaceutical care.
    Lecture: 3 hours. 3 units
Course Director: Dr. Helene Lipton, Department of Clinical Pharmacy
  • PHYS 122 Mammalian Physiology II: Physiology 122 is a continuation of a two part course in mammalian physiology designed primarily for pharmacy and physical therapy students. It will cover renal physiology, functions of the nervous system, including aspects of neurotransmitters, sensory and motor systems, and gastrointestinal physiology.
    Lecture: 3 hours. 3 units
Course Director: Dr. Igor Mitrovic, Department of Physiology
  • CP 124 Study Design Evaluation (formerly CP 114): In this introductory course students are exposed to the principles of study design, data collection evaluation. Students will develop skils in study design through a lecture, conference and self study format. Students will be required to do independent evaluations of primary literature and submit written and verbal evaluations of their review.
Lecture: 1 hour. Seminar: 2 hours. 2 units
Course Director: Dr. Lisa Bero, Department of Clinical Pharmacy
  • CP 129 Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences
Introductory pharmacy practice experiences (IPPEs) in a variety of programs in PharmD courses, settings affiliated with the School of Pharmacy, and/or approved community service projects (e.g., health education and screening events).
    Various settings. 0 units
Course Director: Dr. Donald T. Kishi, Department of Clinical Pharmacy
