Continuing at UCSF
If you will be starting employment, a residency, a fellowship, or some other kind of new affiliation at UCSF or UCSF Medical Center:
- Your resources will change. What resources you will have access to is determined by your new affiliation, and this will probably be different than when you were a student pharmacist. Examples:
- You'll no longer have access to resources such as the IRC and student lounge if your position is not directly affiliated with PharmD education activities.
- Medical Center employees only: The Medical Center uses a different VPN system than the rest of the campus, so your access to campus VPN will end.
- Your computing support will change. You're welcome to contact the OSACA during your transition for help with transitioning services such as e-mail, but the OSACA will not be able to help you with computer issues in your new environment. Ask the person responsible for your new affiliation what computing support resources are available to you and how you can access them. Medical Center employees can call 415/514-4100 Option 1 for support.
- School of Pharmacy new affiliates: If your new affiliation resides within the School of Pharmacy and not within the Medical Center, you'll most likely receive a new e-mail address ending in @pharmacy.ucsf.edu, which is the naming convention for faculty and staff in the School of Pharmacy. Your current @ucsf.edu e-mail address will forward to your new e-mail address. All your existing mail is expected to migrate to your new account. If your new affiliation starts before September 30, you will have no interruption of e-mail service. Please notify your new computing support team to contact the OSACA to coordinate the migration of your Active Directory record. If your new affiliation does not start before September 30, see E-mail to determine how you can best handle the transition.
- Medical Center new employees: Please ensure that someone in your hiring department completes an Account Request Form (ARF). (This URL is only available when you are connected to the UCSF network.) You'll receive a new e-mail address that follows the naming convention for the Medical Center. Your current @ucsf.edu e-mail address will redirect to your new e-mail address for a number of weeks before the redirect is removed and your @ucsf.edu address closes. All your existing mail is expected to migrate to your new account. If your new affiliation starts before September 30, you will have no interruption of e-mail service. If your new affiliation does not start before September 30, see E-mail to determine how you can best handle the transition.
