Navigation
Our navigation elements follow specific behaviors to help visitors find their way through the site:
- Context - Navigation elements such as breadcrumbs and local navigation always provide context by describing how the page you're viewing fits in with other pages in the site.
- Position - Navigation elements remain in predictable locations on the page.
- Current Page - The current page is always indicated with a different color and with bold typeface to distinguish from links to other pages. The current page never contains a link to itself.
- Links - Links are navigation elements, too. See Links.
- Anticipation - Go To links anticipate your visitors' needs and prevent the feeling of having come to a dead end. Likewise, breadcrumb navigation and local navigation anticipate that visitors want to jump higher in the site structure or to immediately neighboring pages.
When you use our templates, all of these navigation behaviors are included automatically except for Go To links.
