Even when advertising is non-commercial or is otherwise acceptable within the policies, it must be done with care.
For example, banner ads have mixed results of effectiveness, and they are so prevalent and so frequently visually annoying and distracting that they can create a negative feeling toward your site and can make it harder for your visitors to read your content.
When you have a need for any kind of advertising on your site, it must be approved by the Associate Dean for Planning and Communications.
