Shaily is a model of what every pharmacist should be: caring and compassionate, academically exceptional, and above all else, a brilliant clinician and admired colleague. She has the natural ability to build rapport and extend a helping hand with ease and humility. She is a quiet force, gifted with the ability to advance her agenda smoothly and professionally with a leadership style that inspires through example. Her significant contributions to the campus, student community, and service initiatives made her one of the Class of 2012's best-kept secrets. Through a wealth of life experiences and challenges, she has triumphed and emerged as a determined, gentle, and kind practitioner. There is no question that Dr. Shaily Arora will enrich the lives of her patients and be an inspiration for her fellow health professionals. At the same ceremony, Associate Professor Conan MacDougall, PharmD, received the J.M. Long Foundation Prize for Excellence in Teaching. Each graduating class selects its most outstanding instructor over the entire four years of the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum to receive the award. Dr. Conan MacDougall is a true inspiration. He understands and anticipates the needs of students, constantly seeks to improve his teaching, consistently goes above and beyond on behalf of students no matter how busy he is, and always holds the class to high standards of participation and academic responsibility. In the classroom, he is dynamic, creative, and engaging. Dr. MacDougall takes the time to make extremely complicated topics clear and has a knack for keeping material fresh and entertaining, pertinent and thorough. His breadth of knowledge, clinical expertise, and passion for pharmacy motivate and inspire his students academically and professionally.
