The California Practice Standards and Jurisprudence Examination for Pharmacists (CPJE) is one of two exams you must pass to become licensed to practice pharmacy in California. The other exam is the North American Pharmacist Licensure Exam (NAPLEX).
The CPJE is administered by the California Board of Pharmacy.
Below is an overview of the exam process described in NAPLEX & California Specific Examination.
Follow the instructions in the Application for California Practice Standards and Jurisprudence Examination for Pharmacists (CPJE) to complete and submit the application and all required materials -- including a US$185.00 fee -- to the OSACA.
If you require accommodations for a physical or mental disability or a medical condition, follow the instructions at Reasonable Accommodations.
Within 14 days of notification by the Board that you are eligible, the Board's testing center partner will mail you a candidate handbook, the cover of which is your notice of eligibility.
Contact the testing center partner as per the instructions provided. Once payment is received, you can schedule a testing appointment. There is a US$33.00 fee to take the CPJE.
The exam is given on a computer at a testing center. You will not receive your score at the testing center.
Your score is reported only to the California Board, which will inform you by mail whether you passed the exam. Results are generally sent in about 30 days.
