Early Conditional
Admissions Program
for California Central Valley Students
Your path to becoming a pharmacist
The career potential for pharmacists is terrific, and that potential is now within closer reach of high school students from the California Central Valley.
The UCSF School of Pharmacy offers eligible Central Valley high school students currently attending Sunnyside, Caruthers, or Selma High School a special avenue for early conditional admission to UCSF's four-year Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree program.
That special avenue is formally called the Early Conditional Admissions Program (ECAP).
Why the Valley?
Residents of the Central Valley need more healthcare providers, including pharmacists.
UCSF has been a member of the Fresno community since the mid-1970s—caring for patients, training health care providers, conducting important research, and creating a pipeline of well-prepared students to pursue careers in health care. In fact, UCSF has a permanent campus in Fresno—right downtown.
The UCSF School of Pharmacy is committed to helping increase the number of pharmacists who practice in the Valley. We have a formal office on the UCSF Fresno campus, and we work in many ways with many schools in the Valley to highlight what a career in pharmacy means and how it can be achieved.
Why this program?
The ECAP is a special, focused program to help Central Valley high students proceed and succeed along the path from high school to UCSF pharmacy school.
ECAP participants are guaranteed early admission to UCSF's PharmD program if they meet certain criteria.
We augment our PharmD class size to be able to accept eligible ECAP participants to our PharmD program—without any effect on the number of admissions slots available to non-ECAP participants.
