UCSF School of Pharmacy

Graduation Requirements

The requirements for the degree of Doctor of Pharmacy consist of two years of preprofessional study taken at any approved collegiate institution and four years of professional study normally taken in the School of Pharmacy on the San Francisco campus.

Candidates for the Doctor of Pharmacy degree must:

1. complete a minimum of 190 units of course requirements of professional study,
2. attain at least a 2.0 grade point average,
3. be registered for and have completed no fewer than 12 quarters (summer quarter counts as one quarter when you are registered for a full summer quarter -- two blocks),
4. complete the last 45 of the 190 units in the UCSF School of Pharmacy,
5. complete all of the course requirements for one of the pathways.
6. pay all fees and financial obligations to the University,
7. show evidence of possessing satisfactory professional qualifications,
8. be recommended for the degree by the faculty of the School of Pharmacy,
9. fulfill the general regulations for granting degrees of the University, and
10. complete the requirements of the Doctor of Pharmacy degree within 5 years of the date he or she entered as a first-year student.
