San Francisco City Tours

Are you an entering PharmD degree program student who is new to San Francisco? Or, are you already a San Francisco resident and want to meet your fellow students while on a fun journey? If so, join our 2nd- and 3rd-year students on a tour of a San Francisco neighborhood. You'll get tips for eating, shopping, and sightseeing. Spend the day with us!

When?

What should I bring?

  • At least $4.00 cash in exact change (crisp $1 bills) for public transit (sometimes more, depending on the tour you take)
  • Cash for meals, which are not included with your orientation fees

How do I sign up?

Deadline: Monday, August 29

  1. Review the tour choices below, then register for orientation.
  2. Sign up for only those tours you know you can commit to.
  3. Please add the events you selected to your calendar as tentative. Your selection does not guarantee you a spot in a tour!
  4. In order to accommodate everyone fairly, we will do our best to take your preferences into account. You will be contacted with tour confirmation details by e-mail or telephone.

Cruise down Highway 1 and explore the beautiful coastline of the Bay Area peninsula. We will hike along coastal trails, explore tide pools, and relax on the beaches. Fisherman's Wharf

Head to Fisherman's Wharf where you can buy SF souvenirs, watch street performers and the "Bush Man," smell the sea lions, and "chow" down on a famous clam chowder bread bowl. Comedy Club

Student pharmacists all agree that laughter is the best medicine! Join us for a night out in the city, starting with dinner at a location TBA and a fun stand-up comedy show that is a guaranteed good time. The San Francisco Comedy College and Clubhouse only charges $5 for admission and it is BYO-snacks and soft drinks! The tour will be at approximately 5:00 PM, show starts at 7:00 PM. Walking Tour

A walking tour through a few of San Francisco's most vibrant neighborhoods. We'll begin at UCSF Parnassus and continue through the Haight, up through Duboce Park, down through the Castro, where one can optionally try a Philz coffee, and end on the outskirts of Dolores Park, at Bi-Rite ice-cream. We'll take Muni bus line 33 back to campus. Along this tour we'll point out public transportation, however, the main object is to walk, talk, and enjoy the sights of these neighborhoods. Overall, a 2-mile walk with a few hills. Muni fare is $2.00 exact change. Limited to 8 people.

Kayaking

Want to see the city from a different perspective? Join us for a kayaking adventure and experience the city from San Francisco Bay. With a newly constructed facility, the Outdoor Center's Mission Creek boathouse is a great place to start a guided tour of the downtown waterways. Paddle by AT&T Park and the Bay Bridge while surrounded by fantastic views of the city. Never been kayaking before? Not a problem. No certification or skill is required, just an excitement to enjoy the outdoors and some sunshine. So grab a paddle and take this tour into your own hands! Cost: $30 to $40 per person. Sausalito Bike Tour

Ever biked across the Golden Gate Bridge? If not, here's your chance! We will rent bikes in Fisherman's Wharf, then set off across San Francisco's famous Golden Gate Bridge. You will have a chance to enjoy the scenic ride to Sausalito with the SF skyline as the backdrop. We will stop to enjoy a snack at our sunny destination, and take a leisurely stroll through the quaint streets of Sausalito.
