About the Program

We offer a full-time, 4-year professional program leading to a PharmD degree. No undergraduate courses are taught at UCSF, and we do not accept transfer students from other programs. Our combined degree programs (such as PharmD/PhD and PharmD/MPH) entail a second application after admission to the PharmD program.

Curriculum

The Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum consists of 4 years of full-time study. All students take a required core curriculum and select an emphasis in one of three pathways -- Pharmaceutical Care, Pharmaceutical Health Policy and Management, or Pharmaceutical Sciences. To learn more about our curriculum and outcomes, see Curriculum Overview.

Cost of Study

To determine exact fees and cost of living allowances, see School of Pharmacy Fees and The Student Budget. All program fees and tuition are subject to change. Some fees vary depending on your residency. For more details about residency, see About Residency.

Computer Requirements

All entering students are required to have a home Internet connection and a computer that meets our hardware and software requirements. If you need financial assistance to pay for a computer, an additional student loan might be available to you. For more details, see Computer Requirements.

Housing

The UCSF campus is located in the inner Sunset District of San Francisco, which is convenient to all parts of the city. Campus housing in the form of apartments and shared houses is available for single students, and 1- and 2-bedroom apartments are available for students and their families. The Campus Housing Office maintains listings of privately owned off-campus rentals including apartments, flats, houses, rooms, and shared arrangements. Since campus housing is limited, students are encouraged to apply for housing immediately upon admission.

Financial Aid

UCSF administers several financial aid programs, which offer loans, scholarships, and grant and work-study programs. Funds are limited and are awarded only to students who demonstrate need. Unfortunately, students who are not citizens or not permanent residents of the U.S. are not eligible for any of the federal financial aid programs. For more information, contact the Office of Student Financial Services.

Use school code 001319 on financial aid forms to indicate UCSF School of Pharmacy.
