Postdoc Minimum
The minimum salary for postdocs is based on the NIH/NRSA stipend level and changes each October 1 with the new federal fiscal year. Currently the minimum is $28,260 ($2,355/mo). Effective 10/1/00-9/30/01, the minimum for Visiting Postdocs on a visa:
- $2355, $28,260, Single
- $2499, $29,988, plus 1 dependent
- $3158, $37,896, plus 2 dependents
- $3408, $40,896, plus 3 dependents
- $3658, $43,896, plus 4 dependents
Minimum Salary for employees on J-1 visas
The minimum monthly salary set by financial aid for J-1 scholars for 2000-2001 is:
- $1612, $19,344, Single
- $2499, $29,988, plus 1 dependent
- $3158, $37,896, plus 2 dependents
- $3408, $40,896, plus 3 dependents
- $3658, $43,896, plus 4 dependents
- Add $250 to the 4 dependent figure for each additional dependent
Minimum salary for employees on an H-1 visa
Employees on an H-1 visa must be paid at the prevailing wage set by the Department of Labor for employees as of the time their application is submitted. Currently, the wage is set at step 1 of the Postgraduate Researcher salary scale, $2,574.00
