Staff Performance Award Program
Staff Recognition and Development Program

Fiscal Year 2009-10

The purpose of the Performance Award Program is to recognize employees who have demonstrated outstanding individual and/or team performance. The dollar amount of the awards will be determined by the total number of nominations. For example, if the award assessment is $50,000 and there are 50 approved nominations, then the total gross amount awarded each individual will be $1,000. Awards for part-time employees are pro-rated by the appointment percent.

Eligibility

Uncovered staff employees with the exception of per diem are eligible to participate in this program. Employees must have an overall written evaluation higher than satisfactory to be eligible. The evaluation must have been done on or after May 1, 2009. In order to be eligible, employees must have a full-time salary rate of less than $100,000 per year and the award amount will be limited to no more than $1,000.

Nomination and Selection Criteria and Process

Anyone may submit a nomination which must be endorsed by at least one other employee and the nominee's supervisor. The supervisor must also verify that the overall rating on the last performance evaluation was greater than satisfactory. The signed individual nomination form is submitted to the department manager (contact your department manager for the Department deadline). The nomination should briefly (no more than 1 page) describe the nominee's outstanding performance and how it benefits the department, unit, school or campus. The nomination should address one or more of the following areas:

After review by the Department, nominations should be forwarded to Nancy Walters, Personnel Manager, no later than Tuesday, June 1, 2010 for final approval by the Dean.
