Pharmacogenomics research at the UCSF School of Pharmacy extends from a better understanding of information derived from the Human Genome Project to research on specific genetic differences in humans and how they might affect an individual's response to a medication. It covers clinical research that evaluates the real-life differences in patient response. Now, with the creation of the UCSF Center for Translational and Policy Research in Personalized Medicine in the School's department of clinical pharmacy, faculty School members and their collaborators nationwide are exploring the best ways to translate genomics testing and technologies into clinical practice and health policy.
