Lindsey Elmore and Evan Clemens, student pharmacists from the UCSF School of Pharmacy, are national winners of the 2008 American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Clinical Skills Competition. The competition, which involves both a written and oral evaluation of a specific patient case, is designed to encourage future hospital and health system pharmacists to work as teams to analyze the medication needs and care of patients and to ultimately help patients make the best use of their medications. According to Elmore, the key to her and Clemens' success in the competition was a "divide and conquer" approach. The competition and award announcement took place during the 2008 ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting held December 7-11, 2008 in Orlando, Florida.
