Studies of whether patients are taking a blood thinner as prescribed, whether antibiotic treatment of cancer patients’ fevers matches guidelines, and whether one form of a leading cardiovascular drug increases the risk for a serious side effect took top honors at the Department of Clinical Pharmacy’s 15th annual Spring Research Seminar.

Dean-School of Pharmacy

As dean of the UCSF School of Pharmacy, I lead the creation of the School’s strategic agenda and ensure the School has the operational framework and resources required to succeed in its mission. My work is in collaboration with the School’s department chairs, administrative leaders, and faculty. On the campus level, I join UCSF’s chancellor and other campus leaders to ensure UCSF continues its leadership in innovative health sciences research, patient care, and the graduate education of tomorrow’s scientists and clinicians. I am also a pharmacist who cares for patients, a clinical scientist, teacher, and mentor. My professional focus is on the evidence–based use of antimicrobials to treat infections.
