Why Flickr?

Here are a few more reasons why we use Flickr (see How we use Flickr):

  1. Share worldwide:
It enables everyone in the world to get closer to what our lives are like as UCSF School of Pharmacy students, faculty, and staff.
  2. Share locally:
It enables you to more easily explore everyone else's shared School and UCSF photos and videos using Flickr photo groups.
  3. Free your inbox:
Instead of sending photos and videos in e-mail, which takes up the limited space in your account, upload to Flickr then send only the link to your photo or video or set.
  4. Enable others to share and reuse:
It's the first photo sharing service with an application programming interface (API) that enables people to extract publically available Flickr photos and videos and then do interesting things with them. Examples: bighugelabs, travelr, flickrleech, Slickr.
  5. Web feeds:
It has web feeds (RSS) that enable you to regularly and easily see the newest photos and videos that have been uploaded. Examples: PageFlakes and NetVibes.
  6. Convenience and speed:
You upload at your convenience at any hour of the day, and your photos and videos appear on the School's website, your student organization's website, or any other website automatically -- no waiting for someone to update the web page.
