Robert L. Day, PharmD
Associate Dean Day serves as acting dean when the dean is absent, handles special projects for the dean, and acts on behalf of the dean in all matters pertaining to student academic affairs and disciplinary matters.
Brian Alldredge, PharmD
Associate Dean Alldredge reviews proposals for appointment and promotion of academic personnel, serves as liaison for the School with campus academic offices and governing bodies, and analyzes and advises School leaders on issues related to faculty merit, promotion, and discipline.
Michael S. Nordberg, MPA/HSA
This Associate Dean position manages the administrative and staff personnel activities of the dean's office-administration and is responsible for personnel, accounting, purchasing, and contracts and grants administration, and for overseeing the School's operating budget and service units. It also ensures that the School's activities are conducted within the policies and procedures of the University of California and other governing bodies.
Barbara Sauer, PharmD
Associate Dean Sauer is responsible for ensuring that the School has a comprehensive and systematic plan for assessing its doctor of pharmacy curriculum and continually improving its curriculum. She leads the School-wide assessment process required for reaccreditation of the doctor of pharmacy program by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education.
Sharon L. Youmans, PharmD, MPH
Associate Dean Youmans develops, implements, and evaluates those activities that strengthen the diversity of the School's faculty, students, residents, postdoctoral scholars, and staff. She is also responsible for strengthening the School's culture of understanding, inclusion, equity, and respect.
Lorie Rice, MPH
Associate Dean Rice obtains financial support for special projects designated by the dean, serves as a liaison to various governmental and private agencies and organizations, which have or can be expected to have, an impact on the School's academic, research, or capital improvement programs.
Daniel Santi, MD, PhD
Associate Dean Santi cultivates and moves forward specific, mutually beneficial research partnerships between the School and entities outside the School, primarily the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. These partnerships aim to advance scientific discoveries that ultimately lead to new and improved therapeutics to prevent, treat, and cure disease, and improve health.
Betty-ann Hoener, PhD
Associate Dean Hoener assists faculty members develop and hone their teaching and testing skills, effectively incorporate educational technologies into their courses, and seamlessly integrate course material within the doctor of pharmacy curriculum. She is also a resource to pharmacy faculty members who teach PhD graduate students.
Steven R. Kayser, PharmD
Associate Dean Kayser oversees the School's relationships with the international community and with people and programs at UCSF involved in international work. He accesses potential global partnerships and outreach on behalf of the dean and advises on actions that support the School's mission and strategic plan. He represents the School's international interests, both at UCSF and abroad.
Donald Kishi, PharmD
Associate Dean Kishi is responsible for ensuring that students progress as smoothly as possible through the doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) academic program. He oversees the academic health and progress of individual PharmD students and serves as a key mentor to student pharmacists and student organizations. Associate Dean Kishi ensures the integration and success of the 3 academic pathways offered as part of the PharmD program.
Lynn Paulsen, PharmD
The UCSF School of Pharmacy associate dean for pharmaceutical services is the director of pharmaceutical services for the UCSF Medical Center. In her School appointment, Associate Dean Paulsen works closely with the School's dean and chair of the School's department of clinical pharmacy. Together they ensure that the pharmacy enterprise of the Medical Center and the pharmacy research, patient care, and education aims of the School support one another and ultimately benefit patients.
Susan Levings, MS
Associate Dean Levings advises the dean on how to best position the School for maximum internal and external visibility among numerous target audiences, develops plans to increase visibility and measure marketing success, assists the dean with communications-specific special projects and with strategic planning and implementation.
Ken Dill, PhD
In addition to developing his own research, Associate Dean Dill advises School leaders on research issues and opportunities and represents the School to top campus research decision-makers and on research-related campus committees.
Cynthia B. Watchmaker, MEd, MBA
Associate Dean Watchmaker directs the staff and operations within the School's Office of Student & Curricular Affairs, which administers the curriculum, student services, recruitment, and admissions for the doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) academic program. She provides advice and leadership on matters related to students, and works in conjunction with faculty, students, and campus units to develop services and programs responsive to the needs of student pharmacists.
